Taylor Swift breaks a record with the Nashville Songwriters Association International.

The 23 year-old has been names the organisation's Songwriter/Artist of the Year for a record sixth time.

The announcement came from the NSAI on Tuesday (Oct 8th) as Swift beat five-time winners Vince Gill and Alan Jackson, two of country music's biggest names.

To be able to be eligible for the song-writing award the act must have achieved a top 30 single, which Taylor as earned 14 times between July 2012 and June 2013.

Taylor's hit singles come from her 2012 album 'Red' which contained tracks such as 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' and 'I knew You Were Trouble' which were both chart successes.

As well as breaking the record for winning the award six times, Taylor is also the youngest ever recipient of the honour.

The 'Begin Again' singer has chosen to display all six of her awards at the Taylor Swift Education Center, which is set to open this Saturday (Oct 12th) at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Last year Swift donated $ 4 million to help build the extension which, according to The Tennessean, is the largest donation the museum has ever received. The building will have two floors and include three classrooms and a "learning lab" as well as a children's exhibit gallery, which will open next year.

Taylor is currently writing material for her fifth studio album, and we can't but help wonder if Swift will attempt to write about something other than failed relationships, as he last album gave her the reputation and criticism of being a serial dater.
