Taylor Swift has been left with some explaining to do after hundreds of unopened letters, presumed to be fanmail, were found in a public recycling bin in Nashville, Tennessee. Although a spokesperson for the country pop sensation has since commented on the matter and assured Taylors fans that the disposal of the letters must have been a mistake, the incident has raise questions about the singer's commitment to her fans nonetheless.

Nashville native Kylee Francescan found the discarded letters whilst she was recycling her old newspapers and upon inspecting the pile found that many letters had not been opened, which is why she chose to bring her findings to wider attention. Speaking to Nashville's New 2, Francescan said, "I didn't know if they were stolen or discarded, so I threw them in a box. And I'm like, 'Somebody needs to let Taylor know.'"

Kylee then forwarded the letters to the local television network, who promptly got in touch with a representative of the singer to detail Francescan's findings. A spokesperson for the singer has since given a full explanation and offered an apology to any fans that her hurt by the turn of events. The rep outlined the fact that Taylor receives thousands of letters each day and "after the letters are opened and read, they are recycled." The rep added, "The only explanation for any letters being unopened would be that a small batch of mail that was supposed to be delivered to Taylor was accidentally put with letters headed for the recycling centre." The mail might be getting thrown out, but at least Taylor is recycling!

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift may not be as sweet as she seems... but she probably is despite this fan letter fiasco.
