The festive season truly does bring people together, but who’d have thought that two of those people would be ex-partners Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame. The pair wound up running into each at the annual KIIS FM Jingle Ball with both The Jonas Brothers and Swift performing at the bash.

The Jonas Brothers have struggled as a unit to move on from their teen star days, the group not quite managing to transition to a believable grown-up musical act as they enter their mid-20’s. You can’t blame them for not trying, though, and at the event they performed a cover of Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinkin’ Bout You’ in what was pretty obviously an attempt to insist on their own good taste in music. It didn’t quite hit the right notes, the group needlessly brightening a sultry, sex song.

Unfortunately for the group they were trumped not only by Swift, but by a host of other stars including Ne-Yo, Ellie Goulding and OneRepublic. Swift was arguably the best in show at the first night of the KIIS event (the second takes place tonight, December 3, 2012, with Justin Bieber among the performers), with her new album Red giving the star a chance to really come out of her shell and move away from her sweet and innocent aesthetic. The Los Angeles Times were impressed at how much Swift had grown up on stage, something that couldn’t quite be said for her former beau and his group.
