"Most importantly I want to thank (sister) @shanelle_gray and my father for their special support regarding this matter, I really couldn't have done it without them," she continued.” Thank you to all of my family, friends, and fans who have supported me through all of my endeavours in life, and have encouraged me. Thank you for making my life so special! I can't wait to embark on my new adventures.”

The 17 year old’s sister Shanelle Gray had been named her permanent guardian last year following allegations that her mother Chrisoula Workman was emotionally abusing Ariel. Last May, full guardianship of Winter was granted to Gray after Workman agreed not to contest the issue further.

Control of the young TV star’s finances has been given to her father Glenn Workman. Winter’s mother has always denied abusing Ariel, but in the past claimed that trouble with her daughter started when, at 14, she began a romantic relationship with actor Cameron Palatas, who was 18 at the time.
