‘Modern Family’ star Ariel Winter has taken to social media to deflect criticisms of her ‘booty pics’ that occasionally do the rounds on the internet, of her being caught in public that often show her shorts riding up over her buttocks.

But the 19 year old actress certainly doesn’t do it on purpose, and tweeted this week that she often doesn’t realise that it happens, saying that her “a** just eats them up”.

“I literally do not try and show my a** when I wear shorts… my a** just eats them up and then I don't notice… awkward af,” she wrote. The last time she was snapped in such a pose was when she was out shopping in Beverly Hills back in June, when most of her derriere was on display.

Ariel Winter has opened up about the pressures of being exposed to a great deal of criticism, particularly concerning her appearance, at a young age when she landed her breakout role in ‘Modern Family’ when she was just 11 years old.

At the season eight finale screening of the long-running ABC comedy series in Pasadena, California, the now-19 year old star recalled being commented upon by tweeters at an age when she couldn’t really hit back, remembering people calling her “awkward”, “fat” and “ugly”.

“We were criticized a lot. And I was criticized especially being the youngest girl out of the cast. And it was definitely hard,” she told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday (May 3rd) outside the Wolf Theatre.

Ariel Winter, the 17-year-old actress best known for her role as Alex Dunphy in Modern Family, has opened up about her decision to have breast reduction surgery. Speaking in a recent interview, Winter explained how her decision had very little to do with how she looked.

‘Modern Family’ actress Ariel Winter has thanked her “amazing support system”, after a Los Angeles court granted the 17 year old full emancipation following a year long court battle.

‘Modern Family’ are set for a groundbreaking episode later this month, which will examine the way families now interact with each other through social media, their mobile phones and computers. The episode, entitled ‘Connection Lost’, was shot entirely using iPhones, iPads and MacBook Pros and took just two days to film, but over a month to plan and design.

'Connection Lost' will focus on Julie Bowen's character Claire

The episode concerns Claire (Julie Bowen), who, when away on a business trip, becomes concerned about her daughter Haley's (Sarah Hyland) whereabouts. Claire then spends the entire episode frantically using Facetime, Facebook and the Web while waiting in an airport terminal, talking to other family members and trying to track down Haley.

Ariel Winter has a strong bond with her older sister, Shanelle Grey.

Grey has been granted Permanent guardianship over her 16 year-old sibling, according to the Associated Press.

This is a huge step in Winter's family custody case, which has been a long and tedious court battle between herself and her mother, Chrisoula "Crystal" Workman, who was allegedly physically and mentally abusing her.

While 14-year-old Modern Family Ariel Winter remains entangled in a custody battle, her Mother is suing Mathew Borlenghi - a soap opera actor and acting teacher - who commented on an L.A Times piece. 

Borlenghi's comment on the L.A. Times website implied Workman calling the cops to protect her daughter was "a total falsehood. It said, "The mother is grasping and clawing to find a way not to lose her money-maker, and hide the fact that she is an abusive monster," and continues, "Having spent time with her, and seeing the way she acted adoringly towards the boy, these accusations are disgusting, just as she is." Workman says in the suit, as a result of the posting, she suffered a loss of reputation as well as "shame, mortification and hurt feeling," for which she now wants damages to be determined by the court. The L.A. Times, however, is not a defendant. Given the propensity for Workman to sue based on things written on the internet, we're going to be very careful. 

Winter, 14, was temporarily removed from the custody of her mother Chrisoula "Chrystal" Workman by a court in October, and her sister Shanelle Gray, a 34-year-old mother of two, was given temporary guardianship. Ariel, who has been acting since the age of seven, plays the character of Alex Dunphy, an intelligent teenager, in the critically acclaimed TV show.
