Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson married longtime partner Justin Mikita in a private ceremony in New York this Saturday. PEOPLE Magazine reported on the wedding, which was officiated by playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner. In a fun little twist, Ferguson, who won an Emmy for his portrayal of uptight lawyer Mitchell Prichett on the ABC sitcom, tied the knot to Mikita, who is a real-life lawyer. The couple got engaged last year, during their vacation in Mexico. They had been together for two years before that. "Never been happier. XO Goodnight!" Ferguson tweeted early Sunday morning.
Ferguson and his husband have been together for over three years.
The couple normally reside in California, where same sex marriage is now legal, following the Supreme Court’s ruling, which deemed the infamous California Prop 8 unconstitutional. However, even before Prop 8 was overturned, the pair had reportedly made plans to get hitched in New York, “because that’s where it was legal, ” as Ferguson explained during a recent appearance on The View.
