The Emmy-nominated actor tied the knot with his long-time partner during a ceremony in New York this weekend.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson has married his long-time partner Justin Mikita in a private ceremony held in New York, People magazine have confirmed. The couple have been together for around two years and got engaged last year whilst vacationing in Mexico, finally exchanging vows in a downtown New York ceremony on Saturday (July 20).
Congratulations guys!
Ferguson, 37, is one of the stars of the popular ABC sitcom Modern Family, in which he plays uptight lawyer Mitchell Pritchett, whereas Mikita, 27, is a real-life lawyer. The pair were wedded in front of a myriad of famous faces who are friends of the newly married couple, including Zachary Quinto, Cat Deeley, Nigel Lythgoe and playwright and screenwriter Tony Kushner, who apparently served as the officiator of the wedding.
A number of his Modern Family co-stars were also in attendance
The pair had always intended to wed in New York, where gay marriage has been legal for some time already, and decided to tie the knot in the city long before the Supreme Court ruling that made marriage an equal right for everyone in America. Ferguson told The View last month that they had always planned to use New York as a wedding venue because "that's where it was legal."
He added, "It wasn't legal in California up until yesterday. Weddings are expensive, y'all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal. We're too far down the planning path to change."
A big congratulations is in order for the happy couple then, here's to many more happy years together!
