Frank Ocean has announced he is to release a new album as well as launching a magazine in July. The R&B giant has been quiet since Channel Orange in 2012 though he took to Tumblr on Monday to make a special announcement.

Along with an image of himself looking down at a stack of magazines called Boys Don't Cry, Ocean wrote: "I got two versions. I got twoooo versions," adding, "#ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY."

It got fans speculating as to the meaning of the post though before we knew it, Ocean's people were confirming that a new album and his own publication are on the way.

Billboard had previously reported that the former Odd Future member was working with the likes of Happy Perez, Charlie Gambetta and Kevin Ristro, while Danger Mouse, Hit-Boy and Rodney Jerkins are said to be producing the second album.

Elsewhere, Ocean had been working on Brian Wilson's new album No Pier Pressure though was axed from the project over creative differences.

Wilson told Vulture: "Well, Frank Ocean didn't want to do the song. He wanted to do rap, so we cancelled him."

Since Channel Orange, Ocean has performed at the Grammys, as well as winning one of the things. He also appeared on Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail as well as John Mayer's Paradise Valley. Oh, he also had that spat with Chris Brown.
