50 Cent will be shelling out a pretty penny to a woman whose sex tape he posted online back in 2009.
50 Cent, A.K.A. Curtis Jackson, has reportedly been ordered to pay $5 million to a woman whose sex tape he posted online. A New York jury made their decision on Friday (10th July) and they are expected to continue deliberating on possible further punitive damages over the next week.

50 Cent acquired the woman’s sex tape in 2009. He added a crude introduction, appearing in a blonde wig as Pimpin’ Curly and narrated footage of the woman, Lastonia Leviston, and her then-boyfriend having sex in 2008. 50 Cent reportedly taunted his rival, rapper Rick Ross, who he was embroiled in an online quarrel with at the time as Leviston has a child with Ross. The tape soon went viral.
The tape was reportedly given to 50 Cent by the woman’s ex-boyfriend, Maurice Murray, who had allegedly told him Leviston wouldn’t mind if the footage was posted online. 50 Cent’s legal team argued he had assumed the woman had given permission, as Fox reports. 50 Cent further claimed, in pre-trial questioning, that he had just been joking about calling Leviston a “porn star” on the video.
Evidently this was not the case and Leviston has successfully sued for damages in the invasion-of-privacy case. Whilst on the stand, she described her pain and humiliation in having the footage shared online without her consent.
"This was something done to me. I didn't have a choice. I would never, ever do this to myself," Leviston reportedly said.
The woman’s lawyer had initially asked for $20 million, according to the NY Daily News. Although the jury have ordered 50 Cent to pay out $5 million, there may be further damages awarded as deliberation continues.
