Adele's Oscar nomination makes her feel like Meryl Streep.

The Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter is competing for the Best Original Song for her track 'Skyfall' from the latest same-titled James Bond film and is so thrilled to be up for the prestigious Academy Award she imagines this is how the actress must feel, after having taken home three prizes.

Posting to her fans on Twitter, Adele wrote: ''Oh my god I feel like Meryl Streep!! Thank you x (sic)''

The latest spy instalment, which became the biggest film of 2012, is also recognised for its music and sound effects with the Best Original Score, Achievement in sound mixing and Best Achievement in Sound Editing nominations.

As well as these, 'Skyfall' is up for eight BAFTA prizes - including Outstanding British Film - but main man Daniel Craig and director Sam Mendes have not been nominated in any Best Actor or Best Director categories at this year's ceremonies.

'War Horse' actor Jeremy Irvine and 'Star Trek: Into Darkness' star Alice Eve read out the BAFTA nominations earlier this week and the pair, who expressed their love for the franchise and the new film, are proud of its possible wins.

Speaking from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' (BAFTA) headquarters in Piccadilly, London, during the event Jeremy said: '' 'Skyfall' has taken quite a few [nominations], it's amazing to see that this is part of a franchise stand alone.''

Alice, agreeing with her co-host, added: ''And such a high grossing movie. To come in and take artistic credit, which it deserves, is very unusual.''
