Former music mogul Alan Mcgee is hoping to stage a new West End theatre production telling the story of Britpop alongside Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh.
The ex-record label boss, who discovered Oasis, has already started working on a script for the show, which will follow the history of MCGee's label Creation Records.
The production will also detail the rivalry between Britpop pioneers Oasis and Blur.
MCGee and Welsh had been working together on a TV drama about his iconic British record label when they were approached about writing a musical.
MCGee tells Britain's Daily Record, "If we can find the right subplot, we will do it. One meeting in on this one and it feels good."
Theatre impresario Howard Panter will produce the show, while MCGee will write it alongside his screenwriting partner Dean Cavanagh.
