Celebrated violinist Israel Baker, who helped create the eerie score for Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, has died, aged 92.
Baker was the concertmaster for the orchestra that recorded the soundtrack for the classic 1960 movie and he performed the music that accompanies the film's infamous shower scene.
He died on Christmas Day (25Dec11) at his Studio City home in Los Angeles shortly after suffering a stroke.
At the height of his career, Baker was one of the most sought-after violinists in America after earning a reputation as a chamber musician, orchestral leader and soloist.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, the youngest son of Russian immigrants, he made his performance debut at the age of six.
He toured field hospitals during World War Two, and performed for the injured, and once taught legendary comedian Jack Benny how to play the violin.
Psycho wasn't Baker's only link to a movie classic - he also performed in the orchestra that created the score for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
