Amy Winehouse, the British singer-songwriter who rose to fame with her acclaimed debut album 'Frank' in 2003, has been found dead at her North London home. Winehouse, who has endured years of drug and alcohol addiction, was discovered by paramedics at around 4.15pm after police received a call requesting help for a woman in Camden, reports the UK's Daily Telegraph.
The death is described as "unexplained" but is not being treated as suspicious, according to police. Sources speaking with the UK's Sunday Mirror say a drug overdose is the suspected cause of the death, but this is yet to be confirmed. The singer's passing comes just weeks after she cancelled her entire European tour after a series of farcical concerts. A statement on her website at the time said, "Amy Winehouse is withdrawing from all scheduled performances. Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen". Winehouse's well publicised drink and drug problems had plagued her career, but she nevertheless won high acclaim for her eclectic mix of jazz, soul and pop. Her 2006 album 'Back to Black' cemented her as one of the Britain's biggest selling female artists and she continued to sell out tours despite her often unpredictable behaviour.

In 2007, Amy Winehouse married Blake Fielder-Civil but the couple's relationship was often turbulent and allegedly violent. Fielder-Civil was imprisoned in 2008 for perverting the court of justice, and the couple divorced in 2009.
