Opera star Andrea Bocelli faced a last-minute customs nightmare prior to the launch of his family wine collection in Australia on Tuesday night (16Sep14) - crates were only released hours before the event.

The singer took over the Otto in Sydney to give local wine lovers a taste of his family's blend, but a last-minute snag threatened to derail the event.

The shipment from Bocelli's home in Tuscany, Italy only arrived at its destination hours before the singer turned up with his wife Veronica Berti.

And there was another near-disaster as blind Bocelli entered the event - he knocked over a glass of his wine

The singer's family has made classic Italian wines on their estate in Tuscany for over 300 years, and his mother and brother still run the vineyards.
