The silver screen return for Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to be a triumphant return; the true vindication of his 'I'll be back' catchphrase. Instead, he and his new film, The Last Stand, prop up the Box Office rankings this week, while Andres Muschietti's Mama won the weekend.

The $33,034,560 gleaned by Mama on its opening weekend not only topped the Box office for ticket sales Friday through Monday, it also managed to more than double its outlay, which is an astounding effort for any film. This is partly due to the small budget -  Universal spent $15 million on it - part to producer Guillermo Del Toro's prominent role in marketing, which helped to bring a large Latino audience into theatres. Coming in second, and no doubt because of both the controversy surrounding it, and recent Oscar nominations, is Zero Dark Thirty in its 5th week with $18.7m. Silver Linings Playbook also marked a good week for Golden Globe winners with just over $13m - a fantastic performance for a film enjoying its 10th week, although this was it's first full nationwide weekend. In 4th is the underachieving Gangster Squad, with $10,305,000, while A Haunted House rounds off the top 5 with $9,7000,000.

Broken City places 6th with $9.5m, while Les Miserables slips out of the top 5, placing 7th with $9,245,715. Django Unchained dropped 4 places to 8th, managing $9,235,000 while The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey grabs 9th, with $7,715,000. Poor Arnie is lounging in 10th with a surprisingly paltry $7,215,000.
