Billy Joel regrets recording one tune in French because he can't actually speak the language.

The PIANO MAN served up C'ETAIT TOI (YOU WERE THE ONE) on his album GLASS HOUSES thinking it would be a treat for his French fans, but when he performed the song in Paris the audience had no idea what he was going on about.

He recalls, "I sing it and there's no response, just a few random claps.

"After the show I asked Columbia's French representative what happened. He said, 'They thought you were singing in Polish.'"
