Jackie Cogan is the enforcer in an organized mob. He becomes the key investigator when a raid takes place at a poker game by two men armed with shotguns who manage to make off with $100,000 when the game was supposed to be protected by the gang. Jackie sets out to find the robbers but when he discovers that they are just two loud-mouthed amateur delinquents, he cunningly uses them to find out who was really behind the heist, pretending to befriend one of them, Steve Caprio.
Set in New Orleans, this gritty crime thriller is based on the 1974 novel 'Cogan's Trade' by George V. Higgins - his third book, in fact, though not very well known in the world of literature. Directing the flick and writing the screenplay is the award-winning Andrew Dominik ('The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford', 'Chopper') who was nominated for a Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival where it received an excellent reception. This will be the second time he has worked on a movie with Brad Pitt who previously starred in 'The Assassination of Jesse James.' as Jesse himself. It will hit cinema screens in the UK soon from September 21st 2012.
