Charli XCX has delayed the release of her new album.

The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker was set to drop her third studio record 'Sucker' later this year, but she's now decided to push it back until early next year because she wants to focus all of her attention on the launch.

Taking to Twitter last night (22.09.14), she broke the news to her fans by tweeting: ''Ok so it wouldn't be a charli xcx album without a date change.......

''it's all COOL nothing's WRONG the albums DONE but it's just no one really knew boom clap would do as well as it's doing....

''I'm overwhelmed by the love for boom clap & the support from all u angels, I need to put the date back so I can launch the album properly...

''(i had no idea boom clap would hang about for so long... It's mind blowing and cool so thank u for that!)

''SUCKER will be released DEC 16TH in the USA and JAN 26TH in the UK and EUROPE (sic).''

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old singer - whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison - is still set to release her new single 'Break The Rules' in the UK on October 12.

She is also currently touring the US and is scheduled to bring her show to London's Heaven on October 30.
