10. A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III
10. A Glimpse Inside The Mind Of Charles Swan III -
Charlie Sheen exploits his bad-boy image in this fractured comedy in which he plays a paranoid idiot who thinks his ex is trying to kill him. But the story is wafer-thin, and the film is almost overpoweringly indulgent.

Pain & Gain

9. Pain & Gain - Michael Bay's comedy may feature enjoyably offhanded performances from Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, but it's also the year's most offensive movie. Playing a true-life murder for laughs is only the first mistake.

Runner Runner

8. Runner Runner - On paper this looks like a terrific thriller, pitting young upstart Justin Timberlake with jaded casino boss Ben Affleck in tropical Costa Rica. But the film never generates a head of steam, limping through its over-complicated plot.

Run For Your Wife

7. Run For Your Wife - Vividly demonstrating why playwrights should never adapt their own material, this British farce is packed with garish overacting and limp slapstick. Even random cameos from the likes of Cliff Richard and, yes, Judi Dench don't help.

The Family

6. The Family - Luc Besson stumbles badly with this mob comedy, because he fails to make the humour dark enough. Broad laughs don't mix with grisly violence, even if you have Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones on board.

Movie 43

5. Movie 43 - The filmmakers may have lined up A-listers galore for this collection of 11 short comedies, but they forgot to put any effort into the jokes. Every clip in here is merely nasty and cruel, never remotely funny.

Bula Quo!

4. Bula Quo! - Beloved veteran rockers Status Quo at least got a free trip to Fiji out of this disastrous adventure-comedy. But watching 60-year-olds act like irresponsible teens as they stumble into a murderous mob is just painful.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

3. G.I. Joe: Retaliation - The first movie was a guilty pleasure, but the new writers and director opt for the kind of brainless blockbuster the original cleverly undermined. And it's not just incoherent; it's also deeply racist and sexist.

R.I.P.D.

2. R.I.P.D. - This after-life comedy-thriller is a total misfire, merely pasting together elements from Ghost, Men in Black and Ghostbusters. But it's never remotely funny, and it somehow manages to make Jeff Bridges look bad.

Grown Ups 2

1. Grown Ups 2 - Adam Sandler brings his pals back for a quick paycheque, but forgets to get a script that makes any sense. Each disconnected scene builds to a punchline that never comes, leaving only a string of lame cameos to entertain us.

And here are the five most disappointing films of the year. We expected so much more from the high-powered casts and crews of: The Counsellor, Kick-Ass 2, Pacific Rim, The Book Thief and The Wolverine.
