Actor Chris Pine found himself in handcuffs last weekend.

The 33 year-old was allegedly stopped by police on March 1st in Methven, New Zealand, where he had been filming his new movie 'Z For Zachariah'.

Pine was leaving a warp party for the upcoming movie when the local police pulled him over and arrested the star for drink driving, according to stuff.co.nz.

"He has been charged with driving with excess blood alcohol and will appear in the Ashburton District Court on Monday 17 March," New Zealand police said in a statement.

"(He was) stopped during a routine drink-drive operation.early on Saturday morning, March 1."

Blue Pub manager Casey Crawford told the website, Pine and his model girlfriend Iris Bjork Johannesdottir "seemed fine" when they both left, he only drank one beer and she had several glasses of sauvignon blanc.

"He looked like he just wanted to spend time with his partner. I think she just flew in that day," Crawford added.

Pine was also gracious enough to pose for photographs with the pub staff, which was closed for the film's 80-plus cast and crew members, and finished at 3am.

"It was a really good party. It was really well controlled. Chris was really good. They were a good crowd, the whole lot of them," he said. "A lot of locals outside got a photo with him."

"I thought he was really friendly. A really, really nice guy," Crawford continued. "We had transport organised. If something happened to him, he probably thought he was fine to drive. I thought he was."

Pine, who has been shooting alongside Australian star Margot Robbie, and Brit Chiwetel Ejiofor, is best known for his role as 'Captain Kirk' in the rebooted 'Star Trek' Franchise, and most recently starring in 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit'.
