The entire cast of the 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall hit the red carpet this week in London for the film's royal world premiere. Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and Javier Bardem were on hand, plus Prince Charles and Camilla and a random collection of celebrities from Rachel Weisz and Naomi Campbell to Bear Grylls and Emeli Sande. The film opens in the UK this weekend and on November 9th in the US.

The next big action blockbuster will be Jack Reacher, starring Tom Cruise as a womanising rogue spy on the trail of a sniper. A new extended trailer gives us a better idea of the plot, as well as glimpses of costars including Rosamund Pike, Werner Herzog, David Oyelowo and Robert Duvall. It opens in December.

Django Unchained Trailer

Also out in December, Quentin Tarantino's next film is the the Wild West slavery action movie Django Unchained. A new, much more detailed trailer debuted this week featuring what look like seriously terrific roles for Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L Jackson. It also confirms that the film has Tarantino's usual mix of smart black comedy, visual flair and violent action.

Iron Man 3 doesn't open until May, but the first trailer was released this week to whet our appetites. The surprise is how much of the plot it reveals, including the relentlessly nasty villain played by Ben Kingsley. Written and directed by Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), this episode looks like it gives Robert Downey Jr and Gwyneth Paltrow a bit more serious drama to chew on this time.

Meanwhile, recently crowned action star Liam Neeson is making a return to serious drama for writer-director Paul Haggis' movie The Third Person, a multi-strand romance set in Rome, Paris and New York. Haggis, Neeson and costar Olivia Wilde were caught by paparazzi while filming on the streets of Rome this week. Other storylines star James Franco, Mila Kunis, Adrien Brody, Casey Affleck and Kim Basinger.

Finally, word has it that Johnny Depp is being lined up to star in Transcendence, the directing debut of Wally Pfister, the Oscar-winning cinematographer behind The Dark Knight Rises and Inception. The script is being kept top secret, of course.
