Diplo is set to release new music with Major Lazer next year.

The 37-year-old American DJ, who makes up one third of the electronic trio alongside Jillionaire and Walshy Fire - has announced he is working on another track with the band, which will be unveiled in January 2017.

The star shared the news via social media, which saw him share a preview of an unreleased track with PartyNextDoor.

Diplo - whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz - tweeted: ''New major lazer comes out in January. (sic)''

And the artist has also revealed he will jet off to Australia as part of a solo tour, because he hasn't taken to the stage down under for almost eight years.

The star also teased he has ''four tracks'' up his sleeve.

He told Triple J music: ''I haven't done any solo shows in Australia in venues for like eight years because I've only been playing the festival circuit so I want to come back and do more of a club show.

''I've got some new Major Lazer records coming out at the top of the year ... an Afrobeat record we did, some hip hop songs I've done, about four tracks, and some club stuff. Doing everything.''
