You might be looking at this weekend’s film releases and thinking The Amazing’ Spider-Man 2 is the hottest ticket in town. But woah there, have you checked out ‘Bears’? We suggest you avoid the Spidey crowds this weekend and check out Disney’s beautifully shot nature-drama.

Disney's BearsWhat are these two up to?

"In an epic story of breathtaking scale, Disneynature’s new True Life Adventure “Bears” showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life’s most important lessons,” reads the official synopsis on the Disney Website.

All based on real-life bears, the stunning camerawork comes from The BBC’s legendary Natural History producer Alastair Fothergill. The story follows a big mother-bear and her two young cubs as she takes them across snow-capped mountains and freezing forests in search of food and warmth as the seasons change around them.

“Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold,” continues the synopsis. “The world outside is exciting—but risky—as the cubs’ playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches.”

The critics are raving about ‘Bears’, suggesting this could be the family cinema event of the year. “Another typically engaging, vividly shot entry in the successful Disney wildlife series,” writes Michael Rechtshaffen of The Hollywood Reporter. “The best thing Disney does with its theme park millions is put them into these beautiful, kid-friendly nature documentaries,” notes Roger Moore McClatchy-Tribune.
