Hell's Gate is located in Possum Kingdom Lake, in Texas. Located in the middle of the lake, it is a sheer break between two cliffs. It is largely unknown how it came to be that way but this film provides a possible explanation.
In the 1970's, three outlaws come to P.K. Lake. One of them, John St. Helens, carries with him a box, inside which, he claims, is treasure belonging to John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln.
The three outlaws have a perfect plan, which almost collapses, after a curious errand boy catches wind of what they are about to do. After John is injured in a shootout, he comes clean to a local priest - his real name isn't St Helens, but Booth; the very same Booth who killed President Lincoln.
Secrets and lies abound in Possum Kingdom Lake; no one can be trusted. And just what have the three outlaws have in store for the community?
