Imelda Staunton, one of the stars of the Harry Potter films, is going to go head-to-head with a co-star from her recent impressive performance on the stage in Sweeney Todd at the UK Theatre Awards UK. Staunton will be battling it out with counterpart Michael Ball to win one of the top categories, Best Performance in a Musical category; they compete against Wesh star Daniel Evans, who was nominated for his performance in the play Company
Staunton and Ball play murderous partners in crime in the Stephen Sondheim production, and it's going to be tough to call on who will win the award, given the reception that both received for their respective displays. Sweeney Todd is also set to go up against Company and The Go-Between for the prestigious Best Musical trophy. They've a while to wait until they find out the victors in all categories, with the awards taking place on October 28th in London. Staunton, who starred in the animation The Pirates! Band Of Misfits earlier this year, is going to be quite busy though, filming Maleficent, scheduled to be released in 2014. It's unsure what Ball will be up to following the finale of the latest run of Sweeney Todd, the actor of course also being a well-known recording artist in his own right.
