Janet Jackson has given birth to her first child at the age of 50. It's a boy, and despite initial concerns from some that she may be in for a difficult labour due to her age, the birth went swimmingly and she, the baby and father Wissam Al Mana are healthy.

The singer and her husband Wissam Al Mana welcomed her son into the world yesterday (January 3rd 2017) and also revealed his name: Eissa. According to multiple baby name sources online, it's an Arabic name which means 'God is salvation', but is sometimes translated as 'Jesus' or 'Joshua'.

This year’s longlist of nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been released, and there’s a number of familiar faces among the new names.

Janet Jackson, who last week released her first new music in seven years with her eleventh album Unbreakable, is the biggest new name on the list, which also includes Chicago, Steve Miller, Chaka Khan, Cheap Trick, The Cars, The J.B.'s and Los Lobos as first-time nominees.

A number of artists have been nominated in the past – most notably Chic, the influential disco and funk band fronted by Nile Rodgers, who have been nominated on 10 occasions without being inducted. Other artists for whom this represents a multiple nomination include The Smiths, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, Deep Purple, Yes and The Spinners.

Joe Jackson, the father of Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, is in intensive care following a stroke he suffered on Sunday, according to a Brazilian hospital.

An emailed statement from the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paolo on Monday morning (July 27th) said that the 87 year old patriarch of the Jackson family had a stroke the previous day and was admitted to their intensive care facility. The statement also says that he has an irregular heartbeat, but does not disclose Jackson’s precise condition at this time.

Janet Jackson showed she really is well and truly back on Sunday evening, when she took to the stage at the 2015 BET ceremony to be honoured with the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award. The singer has recently announced her return to the music world with her latest single ‘No Sleep’ dropping last week ahead of her eleventh stdio album.

Before the award was presented the BET audience were treated to clips from Janet’s long career then Ciara, Jason Derulo and Tinashe took to the stage for a dance performance honouring the Rhythm Nation icon. The performance ended when Jackson herself appeared on the stage in a white jumpsuit.

It feels like we've been waiting forever but Janet Jackson has finally confirmed that she's on her way with a full North American tour in the Fall. 36 dates have so far been announced but, after what the singer suggested last month, we are expecting a lot more.

The multiple Grammy award winner has now posted tour dates for the first Canada and US leg of her upcoming run of dates, entitled Unbreakable World Tour. We don't know when the next lot of dates will be announced, but we'll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled. The tour marks her first tour in four years, and will run in support of her forthcoming studio album - details of which are yet to be announced.

It’s been seven years since she gave the music world some much need Discipline, but Janet Jackson is finally on her way back! The singer announced her return to making music and touring late last night with a video post on Twitter, just as celebrations for her 49th birthday began.

Jackson has announced a new album and tour for later this year.

“I promised you'd hear it from my lips and now you will," the singer said in the video which was captioned, 'My conversation... #ConversationsInACafe'. “This year: new music; new world tour; a new movement. I've been listening. Let's keep the conversation going.”

N Sync reunion at the VMAs? Surely this is too good to be true! Well apparently this is supposedly what is going to happen at the Snday, 25 August awards show, according to reports coming from within MTV. Vulture first reported that it had heard from people working behind the scenes at the VMAs that Justin, Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass and JC Chasez will once again be hooking up for a long, long awaited reunion.

After a thoroughly triumphant return to the music scene this year with his well-received 20/20 Experience and the upcoming follow-up, The 20/20 Experience 2 Of 2, it was thought that Justin's own success would get in the way of any N Sync reunion ever happening, but luckily this clearly isn't the case.

Janet Jackson has quashed rumors about a forthcoming wedding to billionaire boyfriend Wissam Al Mana in perhaps the best way possible. She's already married, you see. Jackson, 46, the younger sister of the later Michael Jackson says she married businessman Wissam, 37, sometime last year but kept the news under wraps.

"The rumors regarding an extravagant wedding are simply not true," Jackson and Al Mana said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, "Last year we were married in a quiet, private, and beautiful ceremony.Our wedding gifts to one another were contributions to our respective favorite children's charities".  The American singer is known for keeping her personal life intensely private, rarely speak about her ex-husbands during interviews. She married soul singer James DeBarge in 1984 though had the marriage annulled just a year later. In 1991, Janet married music video director Rene Elizondo - the man behind her video documentary Design of a Decade - though it ended in divorce in 2000.

We're sure Janet and Wissam will have a hugely happy life together, for no other reason than they're both incredibly rich. She's, well, Janet Jackson, while he runs his family's luxury fashion empire, representing brands such as Giorgio Armani, Hermes, Balenciaga and Roberto Cavalli among others. He also owns stakes in the Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Dubai, Bahrain and Kuwait and is opening the A/X Exchange in a Qatar shopping mall. His net worth is a cool $1 billion.

Janet Jackson married her Qatari billionaire boyfriend last year without telling anybody. Rumours were surrounding the pop-singer, suggesting she was about to wed, but Jackson put things straight in a statement, according to Sky News.

This is the third marriage for Jackson; She married soul singer James DeBarge in 1984, but their marriage was annulled just one year later. Her marriage to music video director Rene Elizondo lasted much longer – they married in 1991 and divorced 9 years later in 2000. Now that she’s married again, a source tells US weekly, the star wants to start a family with Wissam Al Mana, 37. She wants kids," said the source. "If she can't have them, she will adopt."

Get it right, get richer (you’ll already be rich, if you’re performing at the Super Bowl, these days). Get it wrong? Of the many trademark dance moves that the late megastar Michael Jackson showcased to the world - the Moonwalk, the Toe Stand, the Anti-Gravity Lean - the Crotch Grab has got to be the most frequently copied by popstars everywhere. The reason? No one's ever thought of the Jackson's as being short of money, but Janet Jackson's $150m pile seems nothing short of paltry in contrast to her new fiancée's billions. Jackson and Wissam Al Mana are reportedly engaged now, so unless a pre-nup states otherwise, their respective fortunes will be combined.

According to US Weekly, Al Mana gave the singer a "huge, expensive ring" earlier in the year. And of course, because no expense need be spared, none will be, with the wedding expected to cost millions. He'll be flying in all her friends and family on private jets- and we all know how big that Jackson family is- so that no one has to miss out. Apparently, he'll also be employing "a top chef to create a custom menu." 

Al Mana is the managing director or Al Mana retail which is heavily involved with A/XArmani Exchange as well as being a big stake holder in Saks Fifth Avenue, reports the Daily Mail. At the age of 37 he's almost ten years Jackson's junior, but according to a US Weekly source she's eager to start a family- but if she can't have children she'll adopt. Having been married twice before but having borne no children, it's likely that she'll be eager to have some little ones to help bear that Jackson/Al Mana legacyc.

So it is Beyonce's turn to lead out the fun and games at the famous Super Bowl half-time show. Quite frankly it's been a long time coming; one of the premiere pop stars of the past decade and more, the former Destiny's Child's star power has been calling out for her to get the spot at some point. However, let's not get ahead of ourselves and assume that just because she is who she is, she's going to deliver a stunning fifteen minutes. Plenty of big names have been known to fall; here are some of, what we reckon to be the worst half-time shows in Super Bowl history.

Madonna, M.I.A, Nicki Minaj, 2012

The fact that everyone was talking about M.I.A having the audacity to stick her finger up at television cameras tells you just how boring this half-time show actually was. A creaking Madonna did what she's ended up doing on most of her shows this year and sent her crowd into a stupor, with garish and brash visuals and costume not making up for an utter formulaic performance from the (former?) Queen of Pop. She should be thanking M.I.A for giving us a reason to remember it to be honest.
