Model and actress Jenny McCarthy missed out on the chance to find love on Tv when producers of U.S. dating show The Bachelorette turned down her bid to front the programme a decade ago.

The pretty blonde, who is currently dating New Kids on the Block star Donnie Wahlberg, has revealed she asked her agent to approach show bosses and suggest her as their leading lady on the hunt for romance with 25 eligible men - but they weren't interested.

The 41 year old revealed all on her Tv talk show The View on Tuesday (14Jan14), explaining she felt lonely after splitting from her husband John Mallory Asher and "needed to be loved".

She said, "I was single and I loved Tv. Put those together and I thought, 'Brilliant!'

"(My agent) said, 'She wants to be the new Bachelorette,' and they said, 'No, we're not using celebrities at this time. Sorry.' That was 10 years ago."
