The final Monty Python performance will be simultaneously broadcast at cinemas across the world.
This latest announcement will see Monty Python fans simultaneously rejoice and mourn. The bizarre band of innovative comedians will regroup for the final time to perform at London’s O2 arena in July.
The five remaining Pythons will perform at London's O2 arena in July
The group, who last performed together in 1980 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, will be a man down. Original Monty Python member Graham Chapman passed away in 1989, leaving just five out of the initial six person line up.
There have been 10 shows scheduled for July, ending on the 20th of the month. For fans concerned that they may miss the performance due to high demand for tickets, the final show will be simultaneously broadcast at 450 cinemas in the UK, as well as 1,500 around the world. Countries where the show will be broadcast include Russia, Poland, Australia, and the US.
The remaining Monty Python Members have released a statement regarding the July shows: “Thanks to the wonderful invention of moving pictures, The Last Night of Monty Python is coming to a cinema near you. Get your knotted handkerchiefs out and warm your brains one last time at any one of 450 cinemas across the UK, and 1,500 across the world. Join the crowd live from London’s O2 in a final weepy, hilarious, uproarious, outrageous farewell to the five remaining Pythons as they head for The Old Jokes Home…on the big screen in HD.”
