Johnny Marr is set to promote his comprehensive autobiography via two ''in conversation'' events.

The former 'The Smiths' guitarist has revealed he will talk about his upcoming book - 'Set The Boy Free' - at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music on November 7 and at Milton Court at London's Barbican on November 10.

Speaking to NME.com about the book, the solo artist said: ''For the past few years as I've been out on tour promoting my solo work fans and journalists have been asking me when I'll write my book. I'm very happy to say that the time has come to tell my story.

''I wanted to convey a feeling of breaking free, which has been a constant throughout my life. A feeling that expresses itself as both escape and discovery. Transcendence. I found it through rock 'n' roll and art and a journey living both in the modern world.''

The release of the musician's autobiography comes after former band mate Morrissey released his biography in 2013.

Johnny has also confirmed that his book will follow the entirety of his expansive career, from forming 'The Smiths' alongside Morrissey to his work with 'The Cribs', 'Modest Mouse', 'The The', and 'Electronic', plus his current work as a solo artist.

Previously, Morrissey dismissed the possibility of ever reuniting with Johnny to revive 'The Smiths'.

He said: ''It's no longer a question of time or wounds, but simply that the issue is now so remote that the question doesn't make sense anymore.''

'Set The Boy Free' will be published on November 3 by Random House, and will be available in hardback, eBook and as an audio book.
