Lonnie's life is boring. His marriage to free spirit Clover has suddenly become dull and isn't half as exciting as it was in the early days of their relationship. Their lives revolve around their gorgeous baby daughter, Xana, who Lonnie loves to pieces.
Lonnie's job is soul destroying - he works in a small room, editing and documenting every last little detail of TV shows, films, and commercials, under the beady, reproachful eye of his elderly boss. Because his job is so boring, Lonnie tells friends that he's in a band and quickly fabricates excuses when they ask him about gigs.
One Wednesday morning, Lonnie decides he'll take the day off. But he's already used up his vacation days and if he takes any more time off, he'll be fired. So he tells his boss one tiny little lie concerning Xana and gets the day off.
Lonnie pulls the same trick the next day but expands the lie some more - and suddenly he finds that his small lie becomes uncontrollable, and his days off not as fun and relaxing anymore. Lonnie has to do everything in his power to prevent Clover from finding out and to stop the lie from growing any further.
