The world is split into two separate factions. Those who think it's still acceptable to wear a blackface, and those who don't.Everyone's favorite dancer Julianne Hough is semingly a fully paid up member of the former camp, having turned up to a Halloween party on Friday night (October 25, 2013) as a black character from the Netflix drama Orange is the New Black

The 25-year-old showed up at the Casamigos Tequila bash in Beverly Hills on Friday as 'Crazy Eyes,' the character played by Uzo Aduba in the critically acclaimed drama. Aduba is black. Hough is not black. Herein lies the problem.

Hough covered her face in dark makeup and styled her hair like Crazy Eyes' knotted do. She also wore an orange jumpsuit with its own prisoner ID.

Of course, Twitter went into overdrive once the images began circulating and Hough was admonished for the outfit. She apologized.

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange Is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," she tweeted, "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Orange is the New Black - which has already been renewed for a second season by Netflix - is based on the memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman. It stars Taylor Schilling as a woman imprisoned for transporting drug money.

It generated more viewers in its first week than any other high profile original series on the video streaming service, including House of Cards and the new season of Arrested Development.
