Kanye West will serve as the musical guest on this week's Saturday Night Live (airing May 18), with the rapper, guest host Ben Affleck and SNL faithful Fred Armisen promoting the episode by starring in a teaser trailer for the season finale that is, well, pretty awkward to be honest.

During the video the three stand facing the camera in SNL's famed studio as they go through three different takes of potential trailer material, with each one more cringe-inducing than the last. The trailer is obviously meant to be awkward for humours sake, but frankly the end result is really more embarrassing than it is funny. Hopefully though, the video won't be a reflection on the show, which should be a laugh-a-minute treat.

The video seems to contradict Kanye's recent comments about the show, after the rapper went off on one of his trademark rants at a recent show in New York City, in which he seemed to state that he would not be lampooning himself on the show despite the whims of the writers for him to do so. Sporting a large plaster on his head during the trailer, his appearance goes against his rant at the Roseland Ballroom, in which he said; "Somebody asked me, 'When you do SNL, is you going to do a skit about the paparazzi and sh*t? And humanize yourself? I ain't here to apologize to no motherf*ers, man... I ain't runnin' for office."

Maybe Kanye does have a sense of humour after all?

As well as being the last in the series, this Saturday's episode may also be the last time we see SNL regulars Armisen, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudeikis as cast members, with the three announcing that they are due to step down from their positions at the end of this series. The series finale airs on NBC at 11.30/10.30c this Saturday.
