Kid Rock's reputation was built on being a rock 'n roll redneck party animal, but in a revealing interview with Men's Journal Magazine, he has spoken about having to calm things down, at least a little bit. Kid Rock, who is now 40, said: "Whatever your thing is, if it's pills, cocaine, smoking weed, when you slow that down -- which I've done a lot of -- you've got to relearn how to drink. That's the f---ing hardest part. You used to be able to go all night," Rock went on to say. "Finding that balance has been interesting. I still black out here and there, but nothing too serious."
Rock, the former husband of Pamela Anderson, turned 40 in January, which he celebrated with a concert in his hometown Detroit, at the Ford Field NFL stadium, according to Rolling Stone. At the show he played a new country song called "F*ck I'm 40" and told Men's Journal that he was not allowed to put the song on his 2010 album Born Free because producer Rick Rubin didn't like it. He had choice words for Rubin: Rick hated it," he says. "I was like, 'Whatever dude.' I like novelty sh*t once in a while. You know why? Because it's fun. We're always having arguments about that shit. I'm like, 'Rick, you can tell me about music, but don't argue with me about fun." Rock is currently touring North America with SHERYL CROW.
