Kim Kardashian and Kanye West won't marry at the Palace of Versailles.

The reality TV star and her rapper fiancé - who got engaged in October - visited the royal château at the weekend during a break to Paris, sparking rumours they were planning on hiring the luxury venue for their wedding, but building officials insist that isn't the case.

But the palace quashed the rumours on Twitter on Tuesday (21.01.14), by posting: ''On 19th January @KimKardashian and @kanyewest visited the Palace of Versailles but they are not planning their wedding at the Palace. (sic)''

According to MailOnline, the venue - the former home of Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette - is available for private hire but officials refused the couple's request to wed there because they were concerned about the disruption the nuptials could cause.

It is believed Kim and Kanye - who have seven-month-old daughter North together - were told of the decision ahead of their visit on Sunday (19.01.14).

The pair are still searching for a grand venue to hold their nuptials and it is thought they will get married in Paris, although Kim has only revealed that the wedding will take place ''abroad this year.''
