HBO programming president Casey Bloys has confirmed that the network is still in talks with ‘Game of Thrones’ author George R.R. Martin about ideas for a follow-up or prequel once the popular series ends.

‘Game of Thrones’ is expected to end after its eighth season airs on HBO, but according to Bloys, there’s still the possibility of a spin-off or prequel series.

When asked by Entertainment Weekly about the ideas they’re exploring with Martin, Bloys said: “I would say it’s still kind of preliminary ongoing talks.

“There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do.’”
