The President of the United States of America has been preoccupied of late and had a burning question he desperately wanted answered. Strangely enough Barack Obama’s recent plea for intel had nothing to do with the economic situation in Greece or the continued rise of ISIS in the Middle East. In fact, it was all about Game Of Thrones.

Barack ObamaPresident Barack Obama had a very important question to ask Game of Thrones director David Nutter.

The Game of Thrones cast and crew graced Comic Con in San Diego, CA on Friday (10th July) and one the show’s directors, David Nutter, discussed Obama’s love of the show and the question he recently asked regarding one of the characters.

For anyone who has seen the finale of season five (major spoilers ahead), we were all devastated when Jon Snow was assassinated by a group of his fellow Night’s Watch members. The last scene showed Snow, played by British actor Kit Harington, lying in a pool of his own blood. He was stabbed a dozen or so times so, barring a miracle, he didn’t appear to have much chance of recovering.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from wildly speculating about Snow’s future on the show and theories range from his miraculous recovery to his transformation into a white walker to Snow using his familial warg powers to take over the body of his direwolf, Ghost. Furthermore speculation arose when Harington was spotted at Wimbledon still sporting his unruly and semi-iconic Jon Snow hair.

However, at some point we may have to accept the possibility that Jon Snow is well and truly gone and he’s not coming back. Or at least this is what Nutter told Obama when he asked about Snow’s fate.

“Three weeks ago, I was the in the company of the President of the United States,” Nutter told EW. “He turned to me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said, ‘You didn’t kill Jon Snow did you?’”

“I said, ‘Jon Snow is deader than dead,’” Nutter continued. “I thought I was going to be sent to Guantanamo or something, but fortunately I’m here — but he’s dead.”

Obama also revealed Jon Snow was one of his favourite characters and his favourite episode was 'The Red Wedding' in season three where Robb and Caitlyn Stark met a very bloody end.
