Some crazy Twilight fans had camped in London's Leicester Square for days before last night's UK premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, attended by the likes of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Spending most of their time in Los Angeles these days, the A-list pair must have thought "Who the hell's that guy?" as they spotted X-Factor's Christopher Maloney strutting his stuff down the red-carpet. Indeed, whilst their premiere earlier in the week across in Los Angeles saw the great and the good of Hollywood come out, the stars of the sci-fi film series would've been surprised to find themselves brushing shoulders with such British, um, luminaries as Jermaine Defoe, Joey Essex, Tinchy Stryder and numerous gold medallists from the Great Britain summer Olympics squad still trying to catch those last rays of their moment in the sun.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart haven't been giving much away since getting back together earlier in the Autumn, and fans were disappointed by a lack of PDA again in London
Who cares about that though when three of the main hitters of the film were in attendance, with Taylor Lautner joining the hotly talked about on and off-screen couple R-Patz and K-Stew in London's Leicester Square. Though all around them may have been struggling to get into the top half of the alphabet when it came to their celebrity list status, the trio were as good as gold as they grinned and smiled for a gathering of some 6000 people who'd packed into the square outside the Odeon cinema to see them in. Ashley Greene and Dakota Fanning didn't join them as they'd been partying in New York for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards party the previous evening.
"And that's what you'll look like after watching every Twilight film back-to-back..." R-Patz greets the fans. Select cinemas in the UK will be showing all the Twilight films back-to-back before finishing with the new feature.
Therefore it was - as is becoming the norm - left to Britain's sports stars to bring some of the star quality, ably headed by gold medal winning cycling Victoria Pendleton, whose looking more and more at home at these sort of events. The Saturdays were on hand too to provide a bit of moderate star power, but we're not sure if anyone even invited Joey Essex and Harry Derbridge from The Only Way Is Essex, though they showed up regardless. Numerous X Factor contestants including Union J and propped up a very top heavy celebrity bill. Oh, and Peaches Geldof was there, and to be fair looked the part in a flashy red number. So whilst it may not have been glittering with the showbiz shimmer of its LA counterpart, at least folks turned up to London looking well scrubbed-up.
