The Pollock star has inked a deal with publishers at Simon & Schuster imprint Atria Books for the as-yet-untitled project, which is scheduled for release in 2017.

In the book, she will detail her upbringing and career and compare it to that of her mum, Beverly Bushfield Harden, who served as a housewife after having five children with U.S. Naval officer Thad Harden.

Beverly is now battling Alzheimer's disease, according to The Associated Press.

The autobiography is designed to pay a "lyrical loving homage" to Beverly as Marcia shares "delightful and heartwarming stories" about her mum.

The Oscar winner, 56, is also likely to touch on her failed 1996 marriage to prop master Thaddaeus Scheel, the father of her three children. The couple split in 2012.

She has also suffered an unthinkable family tragedy - her brother's son and daughter died alongside his ex-wife Rebecca in a devastating house fire in Queens, New York in 2003.
