Mariah Carey "would love" to join the judging panel on American Idol, if only TV producers could film the hit reality show around her already busy schedule, according to the superstar's husband Nick Cannon.
Executives at the Fox network are scrambling to find suitable stars to replace exiting judges Ellen DeGeneres and Simon Cowell ahead of the series' 10th season later this year (10).
Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler has emerged as a favourite to appear as a judge on the show, while talks to bring Jennifer Lopez on board were said to have recently fallen through.
But Cannon reveals his wife would jump at the chance to mentor budding singers and always talks about wanting to join remaining judge Randy Jackson on American Idol.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "You know what? She talks about it. She says, 'I would love to do that.' She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great.
"I don't know if she has enough time, though, but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do Idol. Let's start the campaign!"
