WILL + GRACE star Megan Mullally is hobbling around Hollywood after tearing a ligament in her ankle - following an on-set fling with John Cleese.

Cleese's character proposed to Mullally's KAREN on the sitcom last week (ends05MAR04) but the happy incident brought back painful memories for the actress, because she was left badly bruised after a kinky sex scene.

She explains, "We were rehearsing a scene where his character is supposed to hoist me to the chandeliers so we can have sex while I'm hanging from it.

"I kind of slipped on the way back down."
