Miley Cyrus has confirmed the joint she smoked on Sunday at the MTV Europe Music Awards did include cannabis. Appearing in The Netherlands, where marijuana is legal, Cyrus pulled out a joint from her bag and lit up on stage.

The MTV EMAs were held at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on Sunday (10th November).  Cyrus performed, a little more demurely than in the states, two of her recent singles 'Wrecking Ball' and 'We Can't Stop.' She may have been wearing slightly more clothes this time - she chose a nude coloured leotard, complete with a gold belt, and a furry jacket- yet she still managed to cause scandal.

Cyrus was interviewed by UK radio station, Capital FM, and discussed smoking a joint on stage at the MTV EMA's. She confirmed the joint did it contain cannabis. Apparently, the incident wasn't planned and it was a spur of the moment decision to take the spliff on stage. She told the two radio presenters that she was not concerned with the negative publicity but decided at the last moment. She said "I was just walking out of my room and then I was like, 'Oh I have this in my bag, that will be really funny.'" She claimed she did not discuss her decision with anyone, so even shocked her entourage.

The 20-year-old claimed not to be overly concerned with the negative publicity and felt "some people I think over think so much." Despite claiming she was not concerned what her fans or media outlets thought, she backtracked and said "I knew the fans in Amsterdam would love it and they started going crazy when I did it."

Further contradictions ensued when Cyrus felt her stunt had not overshadowed her performance. Considering most media outlets and her fans are discussing the joint and not her appearance, Cyrus is being somewhat naive in her presumption. On the subject Cyrus said: "It's just funny because after you do something like that, everyone doesn't want to talk as much about your performance, but this is one of my favourite things about coming to Europe is even though that happened, it's not like the main focus of the night."
