Singer Miley Cyrus has been putting her fame to very good use as of late, becoming something of a spokesperson for gender and sexuality issues. Last month Cyrus launched non-profit organisation the Happy Hippie Foundation, which helps homeless LGBT youth. Now the singer is sharing her #InstaPride campaign, which aims to spread positive images of gender-nonconforming people and their supportive families.

Speaking to Time, Cyrus opened up about her own experiences with gender and sexuality, after describing herself as ‘gender fluid’. “i’m just equal. I’m just even. It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel,” the singer said.

Cyrus added that growing up she was the person other sexually curious teenage girls came to in Nashville. “They all wanted to experiment. I was always the one.” she said. “People try to make everyone something. You can just be whatever you want to be.”

The 22 year old also used the interview to address Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol, who criticised her in a post titled, “Miley Cyrus Claims She’s ‘Least Judgmental Person Ever,’ Calls Christians ‘Insane Motherf—ers,’ in response to an interview Cyrus did with Paper Magazine.

In the blog post Palin accused Cyrus of being open-minded only toward people who think like her, something which the singer doesn't agree with. “Happy Hippie and what I’m about is all about acceptance. That isn’t what I meant at all,” she clarified. “You say what you say, and I meant it, but it wasn’t necessarily my full thought.”
