Morrissey refused to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live citing 'moral' reasons against the other guests, Duck Dynasty, who he dubbed "serial killers."
These days, most of what Morrissey does is a bit laughable. His music is no where near as good as his Smiths hey-day and his political actions and comments, which are abundant, seem in many ways self indulgent and attention seeking. His latest stunt is to refuse to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live over his abhorrence of the livelihood of that episode's other guests, reality TV stars from 'Duck Dynasty'.
Morrissey has been a spokesperson for animal rights for a long time, which is lovely and we fully support him in his message. That's where his problem with Duck Dynasty cast members, who are a deep South family from the US whose business is making equipment for duck hunting.
In a statement, Morrissey said he "cannot morally be on a television programme where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests," but "would be honoured to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed." He added: "As far as my reputation is concerned, I can't take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty then we must step away." The singer seems to be missing a trick there, ignoring the possibility of creating some vegan converts in the Duck Dynasty family. Alas, perhaps he was a little short sighted.
Kimmel referred to Morrissey's choice not to appear on the show, saying: "While I respect his stance on this-- I really do- there's a very good reason why I didn't dump the "Duck Dynasty" guys for Morrissey... It's because they have guns, and Morrissey doesn't." (Fox News)
