The former Smiths frontman has been battling poor health as of late.
Singer Morrissey has announced he’s undergone a series of cancer treatments, after suffering with poor health for the past 18 months. In an interview with Spanish magazine El Mundo, the 55 year old was quoted as saying, “If I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t.”

The iconic Smiths frontman said doctors had “scraped cancerous tissues’ four times”, but did not reveal what form of the disease he was being treated for. “Right now I feel good,” the singer said. “I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.”

Morrissey has faced a number of health problems in recent months. In early 2013 the singer was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer, that same year he also battled double pneumonia and a bout of food poisoning. In July of this year he was treated for a respiratory infection which caused him to cancel his US tour.
Elsewhere in the interview Morrissey stated that he is “now at an age when one should no longer be making music.” Adding, “many composers of classical music died at age 34. And I’m still here, and nobody knows what to do with me.”

Back in July the singer had stated he would retire from music once he had finished his first novel, which he hopes to publish next year. “With luck I will be able to stop singing forever, which would make many people happy,” he said.
The singer released album World Peace Is None of Your Business in July
Morrissey is currently on tour in Europe to support World Peace Is None of Your Business, his first solo album in five years.
