Goose Bring It On Album

Signed to the respected Skint label, Goose are a Belgian based dance act consisting of four members and Bring It On is the bands debut album.

If I was to be completely honest, listening to this album for 38 minutes was a little bit like nursing a migraine from hell. The Goose sound is the typically simplistic, fun, danceable electronic music that I have really come to dislike over recent years (not that I really liked it anyway). The lyrics don't really carry any significance and some of the noisy synth arrangements are horrendously bad. Coincidently, the three strongest tracks on the album are the three shortest tracks, Opener 'Black Gloves' was instantly recognisable and I was to later find it is used on the Heineken advert. Secondly, 'Schwang' has potential but doesn't even reach the 2 minutes mark & finally, the heads down number 'Pass The Cheese/Forget About You' is the boldest thing on the record. Annoyingly, the final track is an ambient piece that is ironically titled 'Heavy duty', and had it been best stuck in the middle to serve as a refreshing break I might not have had to take so much paracatamol.

Having listened to quite a lot of music that would fall into this category in 2006, I was hoping that this trashy, one-dimensional electronic slush would have slipped away by now.perhaps I'm just getting too old.

On a positive note, I have heard much worse, and if I came across any of these songs on a night out I might even be forced into busting out a few moves (I would of course have to be under the influence of something).
