The funnyman, who performs as The Fat Jew, had been due to make an appearance at a Barnes & Noble store in Santa Monica to sign copies of his tome Money Pizza Respect.

However, he scrapped the event amid fears he could be targeted by a "faceless person" who has been sending him nasty messages, and he is adamant he did not want to put his fans in danger.

He writes on Facebook.com, "Ok, so I just cancelled the Barnes & Noble Santa Monica book signing... One faceless person kinda ruined it for everyone. I've been contacted a few times by this dude, threatening me in various ways and it's really hard to gauge his level of seriousness.

"I don't really mind if I get hurt, in fact being attacked by a crazy stalker/fan/hater could be good for my Wikipedia page, but I really don't want someone else to get hurt... Especially at an event that is supposed to be fun. Sorry guys, it's a bummer."
