Gracie Abrams admits that she felt a connection with Taylor Swift long before she opened for the star during her Eras Tour gigs in the US.
Gracie Abrams felt like she knew Taylor Swift before she even met her.
The 24-year-old singer opened for the music mega star at some of the US gigs on her Eras Tour last year and says that forming a friendship with Taylor was straightforward because the 'Anti-Hero' hitmaker has been such a big influence on her life.
Gracie told The Sunday Times newspaper: "When I met her, it kind of felt like we had known each other already, which I'm sure there was an element of just like the parasocial relationship thing. I've grown up with her voice in my headphones my entire life."
The 'Risk' singer also described Taylor as a "safe space to land" with any questions about the industry and recalled how she received some invaluable advice on how to cope with back pain whilst on tour.
Gracie said: "She recommended an acupressure mat that really turned things around for me."
The musician is the daughter of 'Star Wars' movie director J.J. Abrams and his Hollywood producer wife Katie McGrath but admits that she had no intention of following them into the world of film.
She said: "I was so uninterested in being associated with anything that my dad was doing for work growing up — not because I don’t love him — but because I just had zero interest in going down that path, you know?"
Gracie's album 'The Secret of Us' proved a hit when it was released in June and the star admits that she is still "adjusting" to her increased public profile.
She said: "I feel like going places is less … It feels less discreet sometimes.
"I’m just adjusting in that capacity slightly. But what can you do? It’s a real blessing for people to acknowledge the thing that I love to do so much."
