Sophia George, 22 of Runham is a BAFTA winner, and now she’s the first ever games designer for London’s Victoria & Albert (V&A). Her first video game - Tick Tock Toys - was released in the Apple Store, and has received over 150k downloads since then.

“It’s really amazing and I’m so excited that people want to see a games designer at the V&A,” exclaimed Sophia. “I feel really grateful, especially since I haven’t been in the industry very long. Having this opportunity is amazing. I found out a couple of weeks after the interviews, so I had to keep it quiet for a while. It’s nice everybody knows about it now!” Having studied at, Norwich University of the Arts, Sophia is ready to make the most of her 6 month stay with her prestigious employer. “I really hope to make people who may not like games become interested in them, and as well as that it would be interesting to see people who are traditional gamers become involved in art and design,” she revealed. “I’ll be doing all kinds of things at the V&A. The main thing is to use the British collection to come up with a game idea, and I will also come up with some participation ideas.”

Since technology has allowed indie gamers to develop their own material, some excellent games have hit the market, like Limbo on the PC and Xbox Live, and Osmos on mobile and tablet platforms. Sophia will be doing her best to make sure those games continue to get made.
