Hip-hop Duo Outkast Turned Down The Chance To Headline The 2004 Super Bowl Half-time Show With Janet Jackson, According To Big Boi.
The rapper tells ESPN’s Dan Le Betard he and his partner Andre 300 were approached to perform on America's biggest stage, but Big Boi's sidekick nixed the idea over their allotted playing time.
Big Boi, real name Antwan Andre Patton, reveals Andre 3000 wanted to perform the duo's hits Hey Ya! and The Way You Move in their entirety.
He says, "He didn't want to cut the songs; he wanted to do the full songs. He said, 'Nah, can’t do it'."
Patton admits he attempted to change his bandmate's mind, but Andre would not be moved on his decision.
Outkast regrouped for a series of festival shows last year (14), and Big Boi is still hoping to get the chance to play at the Super Bowl, adding, "Hopefully, they invite us back."
