Paul Walker’s teenage daughter Meadow has received a settlement of $10.1 million from the estate of the man who was driving the Porsche in which her father died in November 2013, a court filing has confirmed.

The estate of Roger Rodas, who also died in the fatal crash in California, agreed to pay the sum back in November 2014 in acknowledgment of his driving being “partly to blame” for the accident. However, the paperwork went undetected for over a year because it was filed under an abbreviated name, ‘Meadow W’, according to TMZ.

Meadow Walker was 15 when her father, 40, a star of the Fast and Furious franchise, was travelling with Rodas when the Porsche Carrera GT left the road and burst into flames, killing both driver and passenger.

Earlier this week, a court refused to apportion blame to Porsche for manufacturing the car in any way negligently, after a wrongful death / product liability lawsuit filed by Rodas’ widow Kristine argued that vehicular defects had caused her husband’s death.

However, Meadow’s lawyer Jeff Milam has stated this week that the new ruling won’t necessarily undermine her separate but similar claim. “Meadow's father… was a passenger in the car,” he stated. “He survived the crash but was trapped and burned to death because of the vehicle's defects."

The 2014 settlement was paid (in part, at least), by Rodas’ insurance and his company Always Evolving, according to the paperwork. After relevant fees and taxes, Walker’s daughter, now aged 17, received approximately $7.26 million in trust.

“There is no clear evidence that Roger Rodas was directing the car through any particular unsafe manoeuvres when the car went out of control. Nevertheless, he is responsible, in part, for the accident,” an attachment to the settlement agreement filed in L.A. County Superior Court said. “In addition to economic loss caused by her father's death, Meadow Walker's claim is also for the loss of his love, companionship, comfort, care, assistance, protection, affection, society, moral support and his training and guidance.”
